Future Senedd Committee

1.       Committee members discussed their initial views on how the Future Senedd Committee (“the Committee”) should approach its remit, with a view to returning on 14 November to finalise its work programme and approach.

2.      Regarding the practicalities surrounding the Committee’s operation, the Committee agreed to:

§  allow Members who do not belong to a political group within the Senedd to attend meetings of the Committee, subject to the Chair’s agreement;

§  allow one Welsh Government official to observe on behalf of the member of the committee representing the Welsh Government, and one party official to observe on behalf of each Conservative, Labour and Plaid Cymru member of the Committee;

§  publish a note of Committee proceedings following each committee meeting; and

§  meet on a fortnightly basis unless the need for the use of a reserve committee slot is identified.

3.      The Committee’s Legal Adviser agreed to provide a note clarifying arrangements in place in other the other legislatures of the UK to support Members in drafting amendments and (private) Member Bills.
